Apple Maps Sighting

Apple maps van

Apple maps are starting to map out cities in Southern California, cities like Santa Ana, Anaheim, Cypress, and Buena Park.

I first saw them in Santa Ana, CA 3 weeks prior to this sighting. This was taken at Cypress College in Cypress, CA.

Life As An Uber Driver

Need a ride but don’t want to wait or call a taxi? Use Uber instead, Uber is a ridesharing service. Riders uses a smartphone app  to call a driver.

Anyone can be an Uber driver so I became one of them. I started being an Uber driver because I was curious of what it does, driving around, picking up passenger, dropping them off to their destination, etc. Little did I know that it will be a regular ‘job’ every night after work.

What’s fun about driving is that you get to meet people and drive them home or somewhere. Also, knowing that I might prevent someone from driving intoxicated. It’s easy to call Uber, just open the application and request ride.

What I like about this is that passenger doesn’t pay with cash, everything is digital. Passenger pay Uber for the ride, then Uber will pay the driver. Surge pricing, it can go to 5x the price.  The more passenger that request ride from the same location, the prices will go up.

Just want to blog what I’ve been doing besides blogging and online stuff. I’ve been an Uber driver.

Note 4 – My First Impression

After owning a Galaxy SIII for two years, it was time to upgrade my phone and my contract with AT&T. I was double thinking whether to switch to T-Mobile or stay with AT&T, in the end AT&T won.

Why did I get Note 4 instead of other phone such as M8, S5, iPhone 6, etc. First of all, iPhone is a no-no for me; there is no way that I’m getting an iPhone 6. M8 is okay phone but the irreplaceable battery just took it out of the option. S5 is great, but it’s just not to my expectation.

With the big screen, I can watch movies better, do multi-tasking, and do more. The S-pen is great, I can do note taking, draw – I try my best even though I’m not good at drawing. It’s perfect for students who likes to take quick notes.

My verdict? It’s a wonderful phone, battery life is great. It can go up to 15 hours or more, it depends how much you use your phone. I’m a heavy user and 15 hours is great. Keep in mind that it has the ultra power mode, that 15 hours will be extended to days!

I only have my note 4 for less than 24 hours and I’m loving it, I use the S-Pen most of the time.

Fallen Brother…

All it takes is a crack in the street to take a rider down.

This is what happened to our fellow member of Adobo Velo Cycling Club, Ed Gabat, who was riding in a weekly night ride in Eagle Rock.

Ed Gabat was an experienced rider who did five double centuries in 2013 and four in 2014. Here is his CalTripleCrown page

A simple crack that sent him crashing and tumbling down the descent caused his life away. It’s sad to say that the cause of the accident is due to a poor street maintenance, this accident could have been avoided if the city maintained the street. Also, Paramedics know this street well because of constant call from riders who fall from the same area, this street is notorious from taking cyclist down. Unluckily, our own Ed Gabat was the one who did not get up and go on and continue the ride.

A ghost bike ceremony was held on August 26, 2014 at 9pm. With his son and daughter on the site to place the ghost bike. Also, on site are the Adobo Velo members and friends, they held a vigil as well.

I will remember Ed as a Jolly cyclists, who likes to put smile on everyone’s faces. He encouraged me to keep on going, fast or slow, you will get there.

Ride in Paradise.
